Post-Occupancy Evaluation - Closing the Loop on Sustainable Design
This seminar will focus on the benefits and opportunities associated with post-occupancy evaluation. This kind of evaluation requires a team to return to a building between one and five years after occupancy to assess how well the building is working, to see if the energy and water consumption targets are being met and to see how well maintenance staff, users and managers feel about the building and its operation. This presentation will focus on the results from a series of evaluations that have been performed in BC, a new public post-occupancy evaluation protocol that Stantec have developed that will help guide future evaluations both by us and by others and the reasons why owners and developers may wish to consider this kind of evaluation for their projects. The more knowledge that both owners and consultants have around how well particularly new, green technologies are performing in buildings, the more successful we will be as an industry. This presentation will help the audience to understand both the value of this kind of learning and the potential for accelerating knowledge feedback.
